Population

The Vineland-Bridgeton Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 121,374 in 1970 to 156,898 in 2010. That was an increase of 29.3 percent.

The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 6,484 in 1970 to 16,702 in 2010. That was an increase of 157.6 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 5.3 percent to 10.6 percent.

The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 22.0 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was the primary factor adding population in all periods.

The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, NIM replaced B-D as the main factor adding population in the two most recent periods.
