The Dover Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 81,892 in 1970 to 162,310 in 2010. That was an increase of 98.2 percent.
The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 1,549 in 1970 to 5,759 in 2010. That was an increase of 271.8 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.9 percent to 3.5 percent.
The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 94.9 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was the principal factor in adding population in the first period while NDM was the principal factor in the two most recent periods.
The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, the relative order of the factors adding population was unchanged.
