The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 34,431 in 1970 to 1,121,166 in 2010. That was an increase of 3156.3 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.4 percent to 17.4 percent.
The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) decreased by 121.0 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was the principal factor in adding population in the first and most recent periods, with NDM in that position in the second period.
The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, NIM became the major factor in adding population in the most recent period.
