The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 23,640 in 1970 to 25,941 in 2010. That was an increase of 9.7 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 4.0 percent to 4.6 percent.
The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) decreased by 6.0 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. International migration (NIM) was the sole factor adding net population in the first and latest two periods, and NDM was the largest factor in the second period.
The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, NIM replaced NDM as the largest source of added population in the second period and was the sole factor adding population in the other two periods.
