The Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Brent Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 243,075 in 1970 to 448,991 in 2010. That was an increase of 84.7 percent.
The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 3,387 in 1970 to 26,050 in 2010. That was an increase of 669.1 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.4 percent to 5.8 percent.
The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 76.5 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Domestic migration (NDM) was the primary factor in population increase in all periods.
The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, NDM remained the main factor adding population in all periods.
