Population

The Mansfield Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ decreased from 129,997 in 1970 to 124,475 in 2010. That was a decrease of 4.2 percent.

The foreign-born (FB) population decreased from 3,164 in 1970 to 2,234 in 2010. That was a decrease of 29.4 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 2.4 percent to 1.8 percent.

The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) decreased by 3.6 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was the primary source of added population in all periods.

The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, NIM replaced B-D as the source of the most added population in the most recent period.
