Population

The Lebanon Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 99,665 in 1970 to 133,568 in 2010. That was an increase of 34.0 percent.

The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 1,414 in 1970 to 4,681 in 2010. That was an increase of 231.0 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.4 percent to 3.5 percent.

The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 31.2 percent.

Sources of Population Change

The primary sources of population change are:

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was the primary source of added population in the first period, NDM in the second period, and NIM replaced them in the most recent period.

The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, the same pattern of added population held for all periods.
