Population

The Hinesville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 21,315 in 1970 to 77,917 in 2010. That was an increase of 265.6 percent.

The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 245 in 1970 to 4,757 in 2010. That was an increase of 1841.6 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.1 percent to 6.1 percent.

The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 247.2 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was the principal factor adding population in all periods, and the sole factor in the second period.

The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, B-D remained the main factor adding population.
