The Elizabethtown-Fort Knox Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 107,889 in 1970 to 146,343 in 2010. That was an increase of 35.6 percent.
The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 1,703 in 1970 to 4,834 in 2010. That was an increase of 183.9 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.6 percent to 3.3 percent.
The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 33.3 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was the major factor in population increase in all periods, and NDM was negative in all periods.
The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, B-D remained the primary factor adding population in all periods.
