The Davenport-Moline-Rock Island Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ decreased from 316,236 in 1970 to 307,624 in 2010. That was a decrease of 5.1 percent.
The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 7,310 in 1970 to 13,551 in 2010. That was an increase of 85.4 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 2.3 percent to 4.4 percent.
The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) decreased by 7.2 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Domestic migration (NDM) was negative in all periods and the primary source of population increase in all periods was B-D, although declining over time.
The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, NIM replaced B-D as the primary source of population increase in the most recent period.
