Population

the Bloomsburg-Berwick Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 71,622 in 1970 to 85,447 in 2010. That was an increase of 19.3 percent.

The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 1,050 in 1970 to 2,024 in 2010. That was an increase of 92.8 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.5 percent to 2.4 percent.

The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 18.2 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. International migration (NIM) was the main factor adding population in the first and latest periods, while NDM held that position in the second period.

The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, the factors of population change held the same relationship.
