The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 17,166 in 1970 to 710,637 in 2010. That was an increase of 4039.8 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 0.9 percent to 13.4 percent.
The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 149.4 percent.

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Domestic migration (NDM) accounted for the largest share of population increase in the first period, and (B-D) was the largest factor in the last two periods.
The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, NIM became the largest factor in population increase in the most recent period.
